The Dion family have been operating buses in the Wollongong region since 1923. Route 1 was at one time jointly run by Dions and six other operators, but has been solely owned by Dions since 18 December 1976. Route 4 was purchased from John J. Hills on 24 February 1992.
The "North Gong Shuttle" contract was picked up from Premier Illawarra in early-2010. The route split into two (9 travelling around the campus ring road, as previously & 9N travelling directly to North Wollongong via Northfields Ave) commencing Autumn session 2012, as a result of passenger feedback for 2011.
Successfully tendered for the University of Wollongong Shuttle contract commencing February 2016.
