AC & MM Johnston (Acc No's. 9395 & 15414) took over passenger and school services on the Bega to Bermagui via Cobargo corridor from Moruya Bega Bus Service c1981. The trading name Bega Valley Coaches was later adopted.
Doug & Dawn Lever and Peter & Karen Ingram of Queanbeyan took over Bega Valley Coaches from the Johnston family 1/5/00. The Lever family took over management of the school buses from 1/5/00 while the Ingram family took over management of the coach fleet from 1/6/00. Vehicles transferred from the Queanbeyan operation (Southern Cross Motor Coach) were (ACT) MO 1 Chevrolet Suburban 1/5/00 with (ACT) MO 4 Denning, (ACT) MO 7 MCA and AV00EM MCA / AP during 6/00.
As part of a Transport for New South Wales route number rationalisation, both route and school services were renumbered in approximately October 2019. The route service previously operated as 774/775 and school services were known by the location serviced.
