3. Chassis number will not have a body number, but can be used for vehicle checking later.
4. Look behind drivers cab, for a plate that might have body number on it

IDEAS/WAYS TO FIND A FLEET NUMBER.

Many companies that have ex MMTB/Vicrail/PTC/MET buses, do not remove the fleet number from inside the bus .So on many of this ex government buses you can still find out what its fleet number was by looking for the ex government fleet number.

Ways to find these fleet numbers are listed below

1. Look for a possible number similar to an ex MMTB/PTC/MET fleet number inside header/desto box.
2. Look behind drivers cab, often Fleet numbers were put on behind the drivers cab
3. Look up at the top right hand Conner at the front of the bus, often fleet numbers were placed here to make it easy for drivers to know the fleet number of their bus

IDEAS/WAYS TO FIND A CHASSIS NUMBER

1. Look for a possible number similar to a chassis number inside header/desto box.
2. Look behind drivers cab, for a  plate that might have Chassis number on it
3. Look near the front door/step well for a plate that might have Chassis number on it .(Most of the buses since 1970's had their Chassis plates here
4. Also simple locations of fittings like school lights, or if the side desto units or centre doors are removed or not may help narrow down the possibilities for working out the buses origin.

I hope this list is useful in help people find fleet numbers, chassis numbers, body numbers on former Vic Government buses.
