MAN 10.155 buses carried TA xxxx registrations where xxxx matched the fleet
number
These units were leased by TA and did not have DOT Fleet numbers.
MAN NL202/AP and MAN 11.190/PMCSA buses carried TA xxxx registrations where xxxx matched the fleet number.
MAN NL202/PMCA, MAN SL200, MAN SG280H, MAN SL202 (diesel), Mercedes Benz O305 (rigid and artic), Volvo B10M, Volvo B58 and Volvo B59 buses carried TA xxxx registrations where xxxx matched the fleet number and previously with the STA carried the same fleet number and carried STA xxx registrations where xxx matched the last three digits of the fleet number.
Volvo B59 1107 temporarily carried the fleet number 107 while in all over advertising for local radio station SA.FM.
MAN SL202 (CNG) buses carried TA xxxx registrations where xxxx matched the fleet number. Of these 1601 -1643 were delivered to the STA where they carried the same fleet number and carried STA xxx registrations where xxx matched the last three digits of the fleet number. Buses with higher numbers were delivered direct to TA while 1600 was the last unit delivered to TA..
Exceptions to the 4 digit fleet numbers for STA are :
The AEC Swifts in the 700 series and MAN midi buses - 3 were delivered in c 1990
which had numbers 310, 311 and 312. These units saw it into TA operations with
number plates TA1310, TA1311 and TA1312 and their 3 digit STA numbers. These
buses were later sold to an operator in Perth where they are used on Airport
shuttles.
Also a MAN midibus demonstrator which had fleet number 313 and a Volgren body -
with registration TA 1313. (not sure if it was with the STA). This bus later
became Serco 101 and was subsequently sold to National in Melbourne, their 700
it is thought. These buses should not be confused with the AP and Volgren bodied
1310, 1311, 1312 and 1313 mentioned on the fleet/disposal lists which are
different units, built 1997 and later seeing service with Torrens Transit.
Also, in the early days of the STA the STA purchased some coaches for charter
use. These were numbered 77, 78, 79, 80 and 81 but carried STA 9xx plates where
the xx matches the fleet number. However these were sold before the advent of
the SG280H artics. (in 1986 it is thought). 77, 78 and 79 were 1978 Domino
DC122's RC49Ft and 80 and 81 were 1979 Denning 8V17's RC45Rt.
