Notes: In 2004, the need for extra capacity on services had become apparent, also the Mercedes Benz O305G buses that were in service on the northern beaches were 20 years old, the 3 axle Scania L113 buses were fully utilised at Kingsgrove, Port Botany, Ryde, Waverley and Willoughby depots. Also both vehicles were not low floor, so there was a need for more high capacity and the added need for accessible high capacity buses.
To that end a tender was called for 80 articulated vehicles, firstly to replace the Mercedes Benz O305G, but also to add capacity elsewhere in the system. They were delivered to Brookvale and Mona Vale depots, then introduced to Ryde depot and placed onto the L20 route, Ryde�s allocation of 3 axle Scania L113 buses were transferred to Willoughby and Kingsgrove depots. They were then delivered to Waverley depot and their delivery coincided with the introduction of the first prepay only service in Sydney, the route 333 from the city to North Bondi. The final four buses in this order were diverted to Port Botany depot to boost services there. There was a further order of 150 Volvo B12BLEA buses with Volgren CR228L bodies placed in 2009 which saw these delivered between 2010 and 2011, as these were delivered the 80 Custom bodied buses were transferred within the STA depots with the vast majority of them ending up split between Brookvale and Mona Vale depots, with some others ending up at Ryde and Port Botany.

Franchising
The first buses transferred to a franchise operator were 1668 and 1701, these pair had been altered in 2008 as part of the MetroBus trial for a new cross regional route 10 from Leichhardt to Maroubra (later became m10), this pair ultimately ended up at Tempe depot and were transferred to Transit Systems in July 2018.
Region 8 Franchised
November 2021 saw Region 8 operations transferred to Keolis Downer Northern Beaches and 42 of these buses based at Brookvale (32) and Mona Vale (10) were included in this.
Region 7 Franchised
In January 2022, Busways took control of operations in Region 7 with 22 buses being transferred across, those being based at Willoughby (8) and Ryde (14) depots.
Region 9 Franchised
In April 2022 the operations of Region 9 passed to Transdev John Holland Buses, the 12 buses based at Port Botany depot were included in this.

Withdrawn from service 2024
Cracks in the chassis started to appear in these buses in 2024, in late September the decision was taken to take the fleet off the road. At first a number of these buses were transferred to a yard beside the Sydney Metro site at Sydenham, however in early 2025 these buses were moved to the former Busabout depot in Smeaton Grange, ultimately all the euro 3 Volvo B12BLEA buses ended up there, there is a program underway to remediate the cracks in the chassis and strengthen the body meaning that the rear door will be moved back and a seat lost. The work being carried out at Wales Bus Repairs. It is uncertain at time of writing if all buses will return to service or if some will be deemed uneconomic to repair and withdrawn.
