State Transit Authority Disposal Lists
The following lists are disposal lists consisting of buses previously operated by the State Transit Authority.

| Notes: | These vehicles followed on from the Mark IIs, changes with the chassis included the introduction of push button gear selectors (these had been trialled on a handful of mkII mercs and as well on some Leopards) and there was not an exhaust brake either (they were disconnected on the mkI and mkII's during the early 80's). There were a few body design changes were brought in with these, they were the reintroduction of four piece windows following complaints about the 2 piece windows on the Mark II's. The route numbers on the front and rear went back to the 203mm size, this lead to the roof rising by 45mm. Seat frames were stainless steel and the upper conductor bell was removed. They were the first bus delivered with anti lock braking system (ABS), but this was only in the Willoughby batch which were the last. Initially the order was for 170 vehicles, this was extended with 12 buses being added to the order in 1983. They were new to Ryde, Enfield, Pagewood, Kingsgrove, Hamilton/Belmont, Brookvale and Willoughby They were to eventually serve at every depot, in some cases the type leaving that depot early on and returning towards the end of the types life. There was an early withdrawal in 1988 when 2516 ended up in the harbour at Balmain's Darling St Wharf. One or two in the intervening years due to accident damage but most of the fleet saw long service with the STA. They were replaced with the 505 bus order of 2007 and there had been delivery issues with part of that order, the Mercedes Benz O500LE leading to the stockpiling of new vehicles, the issues were eventually resolved and the Mark III's were withdrawn very quickly. Unlike with previous types of government vehicle, most recently the Mark II O305, there was no longer the after government service life with a private route operator, possibly with a charter operator, but since 2005, the state government had been assisting private operators with the purchase of new vehicles, so with that market gone a large proportion of the fleet was sold for scrap Last run by 2712 on the 1st December 2009 Ex Ryde Depot @ 4:39 Y030 520 to Parramatta.
