According to their website, Nimon & Sons was a bus company established by the Nimon family in 1905 after taking over another business established in 1874.
The company originated in Havelock North, however, later shifted to Whakatu, Hastings where their main office, depot, and workshop facilities were located. There was additional depots in Napier and Taupo with a fleet of 130 vehicles.
Nimon had previously operated urban services contracted by Hawke's Bay Regional Council, however, these were lost to Hamilton-based Go Bus in 2009.
On 1 October 2021, Tranzit Group purchased the 116-year-old company after news it would loose its Ministry of Education contracts in 2022.
