Established in 2007, New Zealand Coach Service is a Lower Hutt-based charter, school and commuter bus operator run by Malcolm Little, initially with his father Ian Little. The company expanded in 2018 when it took over Wainuiomata, Stokes Valley and Upper Hutt commuter services from NZ Bus, who stopped operating the privately-run services after the company lost the majority of its bus contracts in the Wellington region. Expansion continued in 2018 with the purchase of Christchurch bus and coach charter company, Advance Passenger Transport Service.
It had previously operated services for Nakedbus.com between Wellington-Napier and Napier-Gisborne after the previous operator, Karamu Coachlines, ceased operations.
