Mana Coach Services is an urban, school and charter bus operator based in Newlands, Wellington, New Zealand.
It was founded by the Waddell family in 1984 operating scheduled, school and charter bus services in Porirua and Kapiti.
Over the years it acquired Meehan Motors Ltd and the Paraparaumu operations of New Zealand Railways Road Services before merging with Newlands Coach Service in 1998.
Newlands Coach Service operated Newlands-Wellington and Johnsonville-Wellington scheduled services. It continued to operate as a separate division until a change of Wellington Regional Council contracts in 2018, when the company rebranded as “Mana-Newlands”.
Ownership
The Waddell family sold a 26% share in the business to Stagecoach New Zealand in 2000. In 2005, this share was passed to Infratil with their purchase of Stagecoach New Zealand (later rebranded NZ Bus). In 2006, a bid to sell the remaining 74% share of the business to Infratil was rejected, and the share was instead sold to merchant bank, Bancorp. In 2009, Bancorp sold to their 74% share to Souter Holdings, who were the previous owners of Stagecoach New Zealand. The company remained majority Souter-owned, until August 2019, when Mana Coach Services and its fleet of 66 vehicles were bought by Transdev Australasia.
