Port Stephens Coaches is a third generation family business owned by the Fogg family. In 1957, Sid Fogg along with two partners purchased Fogg’s Newcastle - Nelson Bay operations with 6 buses and named the company Port Stephens Buses. Prior to that, Sid Fogg had been involved with his brothers Owen, Roy and Amos running Foggs Motor Service operating Rover Motors, Kurri Kurri Bus Service, Toronto Bus Service, Toronto taxis, Hunter Valley Coaches, Allens Tours and Stockton Bus Service.
In 1963, Sid Fogg took over the shareholdings of his two business partners to become sole owner of Port Stephens Buses. In the same year, Sid Fogg's eldest son Terry Fogg (aged 22) and his new wife Kay moved to Nelson Bay to assume the role of Manager for the family business. Kay Fogg became the first female bus driver in the Hunter region. The couple purchased Port Stephens Buses off Sid Fogg in 1972.
Terry and Kay Fogg's son Chris joined the family business at age 16 in 1983, representing a third generation, starting out as an apprentice and building his way up the position of to General Manager in 2009 and now Managing Director. Their daughter Alison Schneeberger, an accountant, returned to Nelson Bay in 2013, to assist managing the business, taking up the position of Financial Controller.
Upon the deregulation off the New South Wales intrastate coach market, Port Stephens Buses commenced an express service between Port Stephens and Sydney during December 1986. The companys name was adjusted to Port Stephens Coaches Pty Ltd to reflect the operations diversification into long distance coach services, charter and tours.
In 1997, Port Stephens Coaches relocated from its depot in Tomaree Street, Nelson Bay to a larger site on Port Stephens Drive, Anna Bay.
In the early-2000's, Port Stephens Coaches established a satellite depot in Sandgate (10km from Newcastle CBD) for charter vehicles. An additional trading name Newcastle Coaches was registered November 22 2002 and featured on some charter vehicles.
Port Stephens Coaches Pty Ltd successfully tendered for the Newcastle to Taree via Gloucester Countrylink contract in 2007 and took over operation of this service from CA & C Cavanagh Pty Ltd, Kempsey effective of January 1 2008.
In 2008, Chris Fogg partnered with Anthony Royle (formerly of Forest Coach Lines Pty Ltd) to establish the company Linq Buslines Pty Ltd and take Millers Coaches (Mamparn Pty Ltd) based in the small Hunter village of Gresford in the Dungog Shire. Refer to Linq Buslines fleetlist for further information.
A majority shareholding in Cooma Coaches Pty Ltd located in the New South Wales Snowy Monaro region was acquired in 2015, with the company purchased outright in 2020. To complement the Cooma Coaches operation, smaller operators were taken over:
- Yorklyn Holdings Pty Ltd t/a Snowlink, Jindabyne in 2016 consisting of school service N1217 Jindabyne - Thredbo and three buses (2067 MO Higer Ryder, 2068 MO Mitsubishi Rosa & 2076 MO MAN 18.360).

- Supplementing the above takeovers, Cooma Coaches Pty Ltd was awarded caretaker of N0409 Jerangle - Peakview in early 2017, previously held by GL Hopkins of Jerangle. Existing fleet member 2052 MO Ford Transit was used on the contract, servicing the out of the way locality of Jerangle (60km north-east of Cooma) until the end of Term 4 2020, when the service ceased due to low numbers.
In addition to Port Stephens Coaches long held services around the local area & to/from Newcastle under an Outer Metropolitan Bus Service (OMBSC) contract, the company tendered for a new contract from Medowie Christian School to Stroud via Booral operating under a Rural & Regional Very Small Contract commencing September 1 2017.
