Jones Bros Bus Company Pty Ltd had a humble beginning when in 1922, Mr Lewis Jones and his brother Maurice Jones commenced Passenger Transport of a weekend with a horse and dray conveying passengers on a Lithgow tour. They used the horse and dray during the week to transport Lithgow made Ginger Beer to stores in Lithgow
Took over a Portland district school service from B & HJ Griffiths of Portland in 1988 with MO 7683 Albion Viking
Route numbers were first introduced in an Urban Transit timetable, effective October 1988, which covered local and town services.
Took over Bathurst Coaches 7/10/04 with no buses - Temporarily ran several ex Bathurst Mercedes O305s on hire from the administrators of the business which were later purchased.
Took over the Billywillinga run from T & BD Anderson, Bathurst -/07 with MO 2292
Acquired the Bathurst - Burraga and Bathurst - Triangle Flat runs from HC & CM Schryver, Burraga -/07 with no vehicles.
On April 2 2012, Jones Bros Bus Company of Lithgow and Bathurst sold out to the Buslines Group, ending the Jones family’s 90 years involvement in the bus industry. The fleet totalled 52 vehicles at the date of sale.
