The largest operator in the Wollongong area, John J. Hill has gradually expanded over the years with the takeover of various companies, including Watt's B.S. and Beattie's in 1987. The most recent purchase was Route 10 from S. & J. Horrell in September 1992.
The Translink (call bus) Routes 70, 72 and 73 which were started on 22 August 1992 are believed to have ceased early 2000.
As from 14th June 2001 Rutty's and John J Hill were taken over by Nowra Coaches and became known as Premier Illawarra. This list reflects the fleet as at the date of the takeover and was used as a disposal list for pre 2008 disposals.
