Gary Hughes commenced operations in January 1989 on the Mullumbimby - Mullumbimby Creek school contract. Hughes diversified into coach charter with the purchase of a brand-new air-conditioned mini coach in July 1997 (MO 9460). Further school contracts were secured in 1998 with the purchase of Main Arm Bus Service, expanding the fleet to 6 buses. The operation moved into its current depot site at 13 Smith St in 2001. The Mullumbimby - Wilsons Creek school contract was acquired from DA & VJ Thomas, Mullumbimby with MO 3339 Hino RG197K in May 2006. The depot site was also expanded during 2006.
A new contract for a minibus service from Wilsons Creek Public School to Huonbrook commenced 1/9/17 (became S998).
Services renumbered/renamed in conjunction with Transport Connected Bus (TCB) roll out, which went live 2/24. Previous N numbers:
