In 1978, Arthur and Merle Heise left their family business at Picton to take over Cooma Bus Lines / Cooma Coaches from Reub and Beryl Armitage in February 1978. The take over consisted of four buses: MO 3275 Albion Viking, MO 5555 Bedford VAM and MO 7627 & MO 7630 AEC Reliances. Three of these buses ran school services and a public route service around Cooma township. The fourth bus (MO 5555) operated a school run to Bobundara, south of Cooma. The coach charter and touring side of Armitage's business was acquired separately in 1980 with MO 8091 & TV 577 Albion Vikings.

Over the years the business expanded by taking over school contracts in the region and expanding the coach charter/touring operation, notably through securing the Jindabyne Sport & Rec camp contract (through tender).

In 2015, Chris Fogg of Port Stephens Coaches Pty Ltd secured a shareholding in Cooma Coaches Pty Ltd. Fogg now owns the company outright after purchasing the Heise family's remaining shares in the business. Ownership adjustment in 9/25 ceased ongoing involvement with Port Stephens Coaches Pty Ltd.
