History: (Source: Transborder website)
The Williams family took over the Yass to Canberra mail service on 1 July 1954. An 11 seater International K3 from Pioneer Tours was purchased to run the service. The Yass Junction to Yass Town tram was withdrawn on 17 May 1958 and Williams were successful in providing the replacement VW Combi mini-bus. A connection service off the Intercapital Daylight Express (Sydney to Melbourne) at Yass Junction to Canberra commenced with a brand new International AA148 / Syd Wood in 1959.
The name Transborder Express was adopted in 1983 to replace the former Yass Canberra Coaches trading name. The Lever Coachlines name was purchased 31/5/99 with four vehicles initially hired (mo 3 Eagle 10, mo 6 Tourmaster, mo 7 MCA and TV 905 Tourmaster) pending the delivery of four Scanias. Under the operating name of Lever Coachlines, a divsion of Transborder Express, a Canberra to Snowy Mountains Express service commenced in the winter of 1999. This was supplemented from June 2003 with the "Alpinexpress" Canberra to Thredbo via Canberra Airport and Jindabyne.
Transborder successfully tendered for the Canberra to Bombala, Canberra to Eden, Cootamundra to Queanbeyan and Cootamundra to Tumbarumba Countrylink contracts in 2002 and commenced operating them as of 1/1/03. Four new Volvo B12B / Autobus coaches were ordered for these contracts and were delivered in July 2003, all registered on 22 July and the first entered service on 31 July. Transborder lost the Cootamundra to Queanbeyan and Cootamundra to Tumbarumba services to LV & AV Makeham, Nangus who took over operation for the next 5 year term on 1/1/08.
A service known as the "Goulburn CityLink Service" which connected Canberra with the Sydney train at Goulburn Railway Station was discontinued from 1 May 2004 as a result of the recommencement of multiple train service by Countrylink between Canberra and Sydney.
The "Surfborder" service from Canberra - Narooma ceased as of 4/2/08. The "Dingo" Yass schools - Dog Trap Road school run was sold to MG & LA Benton, Yass 31/3/08 with no bus.
As of 7/08, Transborder transferred ownership to Deane's Buslines, Queanbeyan in a takeover which will see the Transborder name unaltered and continued as a subsidiary of Deane's.
