The Company started business as Ace Bus Service which was a division of Ace Taxi Trucks and operated a number of school runs. The Company name was changed to Buslink following the purchase of the business by Hannan's Waste and soon after the services of Matilda Tours were purchased from the receivers of the Trailways group.
The fleet expanded further as extra school contracts were won and when the Darwin Bus Service decided to contract out a number of their routes Buslink were fortunate to be awarded the contracts and now operate a large number of the routes in Darwin. The Alice Springs City Council implemented a trial town service in 1990 and Buslink were the successful tenderers and `ASBUS' became another Buslink service.
In 1991 further Darwin B.S. services were tendered with Buslink again the successful bidder.
July 1992 saw Buslink win the school bus contracts in Alice Springs which has led to a fleet of 11 buses being established in Alice Springs. In Darwin a number of handicapped school buses are run as well as a small local charter fleet. The only new buses entering the fleet have been Mercedes apart from the handicapped vehicles.
Around 1996 school bus contracts were gained in Katherine and a depot established there.
In addition a small number of vehicles are based at Jabiru.

Took over Shuker Bus Service by July 2007 with all buses repainted white and numbered into the Buslink fleet - Some since transferred to QLD. Vehicles taken over will be progressively added as sighted.

Darwin's urban bus service is operated under the name Darwinbus. On Darwin Bus Service vehicles the name is in black while Buslink vehicles have 'Darwin' in black and 'bus' in brown. Each bus has its owner's name or symbol on both sides of the vehicle on the skirt behind the rear axle. Darwin Bus Service vehicles have the 'dbs' logo on the brown skirt, while the Buslink name (also in white) appears on the dark blue skirt of that operator's vehicles.

Darwin Bus Service and Buslink were initially allocated specific routes but this is now no longer the case.
